This file contains TWO PAGES OF ANSWER-KEYS for The Holocene Epoch of the Time Line of Humans, which is another project of evolutionary science created by The Albanesi Educational Center based on Dr. Montessori's Teacher Preparation Course of Bergamo, Italy.

The second part of this project is the time line of the Holocene Epoch, which considers human development from about 20,000 years ago right up to the present. The set includes a Work Chart, which is a large laminated chart two feet wide and eight feet long; 30 Individual Pictures 3¼” x 5” fully colored for the history of mankind; 30 short paragraph labels to match and explain the 30 illustrations on the Picture Cards; one Control Booklet; and six Story Cards describing the six important stages of the progress of human civilizations.
Some Pertinent Notes of Montessori Pedagogy:
Montessori believed that elementary students are naturally filled with curiosity about the scientific curriculum she called Cosmic Education, that explains the origin of the universe and our own existence. In the notes of her teacher preparation course, she emphasized her observation that children are far more interested in learning general, simplified scientific explanations about the dramatic events of the universe and life, than they are about the precision of abstract information related to dates and measurements of distant cosmic events, no matter how scientifically accurate they may be.
For this reason, Dr. Montessori taught her teachers to explain the principles of scientific knowledge through the aid of manipulative activities. The materials that the teachers were taught to make during her preparation courses had to be designed to strike the students' imagination and elicit their critical thinking.
To follow Dr. Montessori's pedagogical principles with authenticity, between 1976 and 1986, the Albanesi Educational Center developed some of the most essential Montessori materials of the natural history curriculum. As Montessori instructed, our cultural materials were designed to present subjects interdependently, so that astronomy could lead to geology, geography. paleontology, biology, and anthropology. Due to their interdisciplinary approach, impressionistic style, hands-on method of discovery, and most of all due to their emphasis on the study of the scientific method, the value of our materials has remained relevant today as it was when Montessori was alive. Our projects were not made like science news articles to inform students on the ever-changing, up-to-the-minute latest discoveries. In the spirit of the Montessori method, they were designed to stimulate the mind, to appreciate and understand the scientific method.
Some of the Albanesi cultural projects that are strictly interrelated are: The Black Ribbon, The Clock of the Eras, The Geography Charts (which consist in two series explaining the geological formation of the earth and the two main geophysical forces of air and water that continue to shape the earth's surface), The Time Line of the Development of Life, (which begins with microscopic organisms and ends with the coming of existence of humans), The Pleistocene Epoch of the Time Line of Humans, and The Holocene Epoch of the Time Line of Humans, (two projects that begin in prehistory and depict the dramatic history of mankind through the rise of civilizations and ending with us.)
